St. John the Apostle Catholic
School has been a symbol of excellence in Catholic education
since 1965. The first classes were held in temporary buildings
while a permanent structure was constructed. In the fall of the
following year, 235 students in grades one through seven began
school in the completed school building. SJS accepted its first
twenty-six kindergarten students in 1970, and the program was
expanded to include Pre-Kindergarten in 1971. A science room
was added in 1972, and a new library was built in 1977. The
next additions came in 1988, a joint effort with the parish
producing four more classrooms, an updated science room, and the
Family Life Center, which included a gymnasium.

As a result of growing enrollment, in 2004 two
new eighth grade classrooms and a Multi-Media Center, which
houses a new library and computer lab, were added. The
school presently consists of 22 classrooms, library/media
center, science lab, cafeteria, two computer labs, and a
gymnasium. Today, St. John the Apostle Catholic School
continues to flourish, serving 305 students in
pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, with a faculty and staff
of 34 dedicated individuals.
In 2008, St. John's was recognized as a NCLB
National Blue Ribbon School, the only school in Tarrant County
to receive such an award in that year.
