Based on the NCEA Theme - "Catholic Schools - Dividends for Life"

St. John the Apostle Catholic School is a pre-kindergarten through eighth grade parochial school accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference Accreditation Commission and Recognized by the Texas Education Agency.  The school offers a strong academic program for all its students.

2009-2010 Theme

"Invest in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Receive Dividends for Life"

The seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit as they appear in the Catechism of the Catholic Church are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, ad fear of the Lord.  God, in his infinite wisdom has given us these Gifts through the Holy Spirit to help guide us as we confront the challenges in life.  In this school year students will live their faith as they learn about the Gifts and apply them to their daily lives.

Each grade level will be given a particular month to highlight how they are learning and using its assigned Gift.  Their efforts will be showcased on the bulletin board outside of the library.  On the first Friday of the assigned month, the class will read a relevant scripture passage to remind of  us of the importance of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  In an effort to promote the mentoring that is such an integral part of the SJS "Buddy System", order students will be paired with their lower school "buddies" for this endeavor.
