Volunteer Information           Home and School

This organization is the liaison between parents and the school administration. The goal is to provide assistance to the schoo, the faculty and staff in a variety of areas.

  • President
    • Preside at all meetings of the Association and Executive Board
    • Be a non-voting member of the School Advisory Council
    • Call special meetings whenever necessary
    • Appoint all special committees
    • Serve as a member ex-officio of all committees, except the Nominating Committee
    • Approve all checks, within the approval of the Executive Officers, drawn against the Association’s bank account
    • Candidates must serve at least one term as a H&S officer unless there is no former officer seeking position, at which time it is open to all
  • Vice President
    • Serve as an ex-officio member of the H&S officers and all standing and special committees 
    • Assist and act as President in the President’s absence
    • Publish the H&S section of the any reoccurring school bulletin
  • Secretary
    • Act as the recording officer of the Association
    • Be the custodian of its records
    • Keep the H&S calendar and send it electronically so School Administration
    • Assist in all social events of the school
  • Treasurer
    • Produce quarterly reports and for the financial accountability of H&S
    • Serve as a member of the Finance Committee under the direction of the SAC
    • Assist in all school activities and social events within the school.
  • Fund Raising  Chair – 1-2 individuals
    • Coordinate and oversee all H&S fundraising
    • Work with the Treasurer to provide accurate accountability of funds raised
    • Work with the members of the Development Committee under the direction of the SAC
    • Organize Special Programs
  • Spirit Shop – Provides SJS Spirit shirts and other merchandise to promote school spirit
    • Identify merchandise to promote school spirit
    • Assure SJS graphic standards are met through coordination with Development Director and Principal
    • Evaluate effectiveness of merchandise
    • Order merchandise
    • Set price list, have copies available in school office
    • Promote merchandise via online software
    • Handle inventory, tracking and book keeping
    • Coordinate with Business Manager
  • Social Committee
    • Coordinate monthly or quarterly school wide social events (Ranger games, etc.)
    • Coordinates ticket distribution, etc.
  • C.O.P.E. Chairman (Compassionate Organization of People)
    • Oversee the committee, which coordinates with families in need of COPE care
    • Managie the community service award within the school
    • Assisting with school activities
  • Education Chairs
    • Oversee all aspects of the Education component of H&S including Homeroom Parent events
    • Openings typically  include lower grades PK-2nd; 3rd-5th grades; and upper grades 6th – 8th).
  • Home Room Parents – year long.
    •  Work with teachers and class parents to provide items for parties as well as coordinate grade level teacher appreciation luncheon for designated month
    • Two parents per home room preferred
  • Publicity
    • Update the school marquee from week to week
    • Publish H&S flyers, with approval of Principal and Development Director to assure graphic standards are met
    • Work  with the Fundraising Chairpersons to promote activities
    • Serve a member of the Development Committee under the direction of the School Advisory Council (“SAC”). 
  • Talent Show Committee – Coordinate school wide talent show , usually held in April
  • Used Uniform
    • Oversee Used Uniform sales, typically held during March, June and August
    • Coordinate Used Uniform helpers
    • Organize inventory for purchase
    • Promote sale, coordinating with Publicity chair
    • Inventory and handle book keeping
    • Provide follow-up
