SUMMER ESP HOURS

Campus preparations for the 2009-2010 school year will begin Saturday, June 6.  You can get a head start on your ESP hours for next year by joining us on Saturday mornings, 8:00 a.m. until noon,.  The only Saturday we will not be working is July 4.  Cleaning classrooms, painting, moving furniture and equipment, grounds keeping and other opportunities will be taking place all summer.  If you're not an early riser, show up when you can.  This is a great way to take care of your ESP commitment before the school year begins.  Teens can earn service hours, so bring them, too!   Please make plans to help this summer.  It will benefit you, the school, and your CHILDREN!  Call Barb Krueger at 817-590-4574 if you have any questions or want to work.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD FOR MAY

Congratulations to Mrs. Hernandez’s 7th grade homeroom for winning the Community Service Award for May!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR 2009-2010
Volunteers are needed to help the school office with daily copying.  Five volunteers (one dedicated to each day) are needed for two hours during the school day.  The two hour block of time is up to the volunteer, but needs

to be consistent so that a set schedule can be made.  The copying is done in the church office, so they need to know when the school is using their copy machine.  Also, back up or "on call" volunteers are needed to fill in
if the regularly scheduled person is unable to work on any given day.  The commitment is for the entire school year and will earn ESP hours.  If volunteers cannot commit for the school year, a minimum of one semester
commitment is preferred.  Children are not allowed to accompany volunteers while copying.  If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions, please contact Barb Krueger at 817-590-4574.

SCRIP SUMMER ORDERS

We will be ordering Scrip through June 16th for delivery on June l8th.  We will order again starting the last week in July.

NOTES FROM THE NURSES OFFICE

If your child has any medication in the Nurses’ Office please make sure that you pick it up on the last day of school. (The parent has to be the one to pick it up; we are not allowed to send it with the student).

All medicine remaining after the last day will be discarded, per diocesan policy.

If your child will be needing to take any of the “allowable medications” per diocesan policy, during school hours next school year, we will need another medication form filled out and signed for the 2009/2010 school year.

IMMUNIZATIONS:

Because of the revision of the immunization requirements that take effect at the beginning of the 2009-10 school year a letter was mailed home to all the parents whose children will need those immunizations before school starts in August. If your child is due for any immunizations over the summer, please bring their updated shot record to the nurse’s office before the first day of school. If they are out of compliance with their immunizations they will not be able to start school.

Please call if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Barbara Timmermann, RN

School Nurse

Boots ‘N Bowties 2009 Update

The request for families to host ‘gift-giving’ parties is coming along; however, we still have some grades without any hosts.

This is for the 2009-2010 Class:

8th Grade – Open  (One Family pending)

7th Grade – Open

6th Grade – One Family has volunteered

5th Grade – One Family has volunteered

4th Grade – Open

3rd Grade – Open

2nd Grade – One Family has volunteered

1st Grade – Two Families have volunteered

As you can see, we still need families to volunteer to host a party for their child’s grade.

Volunteers will host a party for a particular grade.  All families with children in that grade will be invited to a ‘party’ during August or September.  Each family is being asked to bring a new, unwrapped gift to the party, which will be offered at the Boots ‘N Bowties Auction in November.

Families hosting the parties have the choice to determine where, and how the party will be held.  Some have suggested swimming parties, picnics, baseball games, etc.  The parties may be held at the host’s home or another location to be determined by the host.

Send your name and phone number to the school office and someone will get in touch.

We need to have all grades represented before the end of May.

Our goal is to have two or more hosts for each class.  Each host will earn 5 ESP hours.  Please, consider hosting on the parties.  It’s our students that will benefit.
